Sports rehabilitation and return to play is the process of deciding when an injured or ill player may safely return to practice or competition. The main goal is to return an injured player to training or competition without putting the individual or others at increased risk of injury or illness.
This process is criteria driven (not time driven). You must achieve certain levels of physical ability, criteria, before you can progress through the stages. You will be treated according to the various phases of the injury process.
Treatments are based on best practices and supported by evidence in the current literature. The rehabilitation is patient centered and reflects the demands of their specific sport.
Before you can progress through each rehab phase, you will have to be able to demonstrate satisfactory achievement of progressive criteria by testing with an established or equivalent functional test.
